Tips for successful signups
- Be sure that you know when signups for a given company begin. Review
"When do I sign up for an interview?"
- Sign up as early as possible -- some companies are very popular and
schedules fill up very fast!
- Before you sign up, study the job descriptions
in the Campus Recruiting binders. Know exactly which positions you
want -- don't waste your time or other people's time by reading the job
descriptions in the company signup folder. In addition, make sure that
you meet the company's requirements for degree, option, citizenship, experience,
etc. If you don' t meet the requirements, your name will be removed
from the schedule and you will be notified via e-mail.
- Verify that you are signing up on the correct Interview Schedule sheet!
Companies often have more than one interview schedule in a day, or schedules
spread out on different days. Check the position title and degree and option
requirements listed on each sheet to make sure you have the correct one.
- Look carefully at the Interview Schedule sheet. There may be a special
application that you must fill out or some other requirement. This information
is indicated on the sheet.
- Use discretion when choosing interview times. Recruiters prefer, if
possible, to cluster interviews in the morning. Please don't sign up for
the last interview at 4:30 if there are only two or three interviews in
the morning. Recruiters usually check with the CDC before they come to
campus to review their interview schedules, and will request that interviews
be rescheduled or canceled if they are not convenient.
- Do not sign up for overlapping or back-to-back interviews. Interviewers
occasionally run over the allotted time, and it is impolite and will reflect
negatively on you to be late for your next interview.
- Bring sufficient copies of your resume. You must place a copy of your
resume in the folder of each company that you sign up with. Additionally,
you can put your resume in any folder you wish, even if you are not signed
up for an interview. See "What can I do if the
schedule is full?" and "What can I
do if I don’t meet the company’s requirements?" for more details.
- Write down your interview information -- date, time, interview room,
interview length, information sessions, etc. We do not send out reminders,
and there is a strict No-Show Policy, so please
keep track of your own interview schedule!
