When a company signs up to recruit at Caltech, they complete our "Position Information Form" which contains company information (name, brief description, URL, interview date) and information about the position (title, location, degree and option requirements, and description). Many companies also send supplemental descriptions or information about their positions. However, be prepared: there is a wide variation in the detail about positions provided by the company. |
The Position Information forms are arranged alphabetically by company name and collected in binders which are located in the Career Development Center library. There are two types of binders: "Campus Recruiting - PhD" which is green, and "Campus Recruiting - All Degrees" which is red. There are three copies of each in the library, and you may browse them freely whenever the CDC is open. |
In addition to the Campus Recruiting binders, you may also wish to look at additional company literature which is in the CDC library in order to get an idea of other positions that the companies hire. Many companies provide the CDC with company literature in notebook or handout form, and a number of them provide copies of literature for prospective interviewees.
Company binders are located in the southeast section of the CDC library; nonbound literature is in the filing cabinets on the north side of the library. This information can be very helpful in your decision as to whether or not you are interested in an organization. |
If the organization has sent multiple copies for candidates to take,
they will be on the "rip-off racks" outside the CDC's front entrance.
Once you have determined which positions you are interested in interviewing for, you are ready to sign up. |
