After you have examined the job positions, researched the company, decided which position you are interested in and are qualified to interview for, and polished up your resume, you are ready to sign up for an interview!
Signing up for an interview is relatively simple.
First, you must come in person to the CDC to sign up. No signups can be taken over the phone, nor can you have a friend sign up for you.
Second, locate the company signup folder. On the Interview Schedule sheet, choose a convenient time and fill in your name and other requested information (your citizenship, degree, option, graduation date, and phone number). Please use a pencil (there are often changes made to interview schedules).
In the Citizenship column, you should indicate "F1" or "J1" as appropriate, "PR" for Permanent Resident, or "US" for U.S. Citizen. If you are a student from Canada, please indicate "CAN" in the column in addition to your visa status. Citizenship and nationality information is not divulged to the recruiter.
If you are a postdoctoral scholar, put "PostDoc" in the Degree column.
Third, place a copy of your resume in the folder. Folders are checked regularly and if your resume is not in the folder, you will be removed from the schedule and notified via e-mail. You may want to write the name of the company on the top right-hand corner of the resume. This will make it easier to locate the correct folder should your resume and the folder become separated.
Lastly, make a note to yourself of your interview information -- date, time, interview room, interview length, information sessions, etc. We do not send out reminders, and there is a strict No-Show Policy, so please keep track of your own interview schedule!
That is the signup process in a nutshell, but you’ll also want to check out the next section, “Tips for successful signups,” to make your signups as smooth as possible.
