The recent discussion on an newsletter of this mailing list came to
my attention. I don't think this is the first time this group has
been heated up, at least some people can still remember the
discussion on "You can make USTC the best".
Although it was not explicitly stated, I assume the main purpose of
this mailing list is to inform the USTC Alma Mater of the progress
and development of the USTC and advocate the communication between
the USTC alumni and the school we graduated from. The mailing list
maintainers have been working diligently to server the USTC alumni.
But now it seems to me that occasionally this mailing list was not
used properly. Personally, I don't think this mailing list is a
USTC forum or a USTC bulletin board (it has been set up, even with
a dating service section!). It is not considered appropriate here
to express personal opinion or any other things (like job listing)
not related to the public interest of the entire mailing list.
The above is only my own understanding. Anyone is welcome to send
message to me if (s)he has different opinion. If I totally
misunderstood the purpose(s) of this mailing list, I'm willing
to sign off this mailing list and subscribe to other USTC list(s).
Thanks for your caring of the USTC.
