I don't know what you meant when you said your visa "has expired", because
as long as you keep a legal status, your visa will not expire. The vise
will expire at the time when you leave U.S. If you were saying your legal
status here has expired, you will get some trouble wherever you apply for a
visa.
By the way, if you apply for an F-1 visa in Shanghai, since you are going
back from U.S., so you don't have to wait a week. Actually, you will get
your visa in the same day you apply it.
