Dear Alumni:

In response to the proposal put forth by Mr. Dongzi Liu at the Univ. of
Chicago, I am willing to volunteer and to coordinate the efforts of USTC
alumni here in the Austin, TX area in both setting up the USTC North America
Alumni Association, Austin Chapter and in raising funds for the proposed
scholarship. I'm pretty confident that all USTC alumni in Austin would
be quite supportive.

I personally like the idea of the scholarship very much and appeal to you
fellow alumni all over the world in participating in this effort.

My suggestions are as follows and I think they are drawn from the
messages posted on the BB and are supplemental to those by Mr. Dongzi Liu:

1) Each area should have a chapter for the greater North America USTC
Alumni Association (NAUAA) and a coordinator should be produced in one
way or another.

2) For the matter of the scholarship, the coordinator is responsible to
raise funds among USTC alimni and others (if possible) in his/her own
area and then send all the funds raised to Prof. Zhang Shang-you at
Univ. of Delaware (subject to the consent and willingness of Prof. Zhang).

3) Also subject to the willing participation of Dr. Zhang Shang-you, he
then contacts USTC authority and matters related to the establishment
of the scholarship be discussed. We'll then go from there.

I would like to see more discussions on this subject in the next few
days.

I believe that it only takes one ebthusiastic volunteer and majority
support of our USTC alumni in each area to make this proposal come true.
