What is a "50 for 50" event?
- The possibilities are endless! Here are just a few suggestions:
- Table using pledge cards and/or Defenders postcards at a location of your choice.
- Dedicate one or more group meetings to educating yourselves about the UDHR. (Education materials can be found in your initial mailing, or you can invite Martha to facilitate.)
- Set a group goal for the number of Defenders letters your group will write.
- Incorporate UDHR themes into your action file work - e.g., rewrite them based on the Defenders model.
- Hold a joint meeting with a group working on local human rights issues. This could just be a potluck get-to-know-you affair. Suggestions for groups to approach are in your initial mailing.
- Use UDHR50 pledges, postcards, stickers, to enhance a fund-raiser.
- Arrange a UDHR display of books or artwork at your local library. Get AI high school students to help.
- Get a prominent individual in your community to sign the pledge card and take a picture.
- Work with a teacher on a UDHR lesson plan.
- Arrange for the animated UDHR video to be shown on cable access television.
