I agree that our newsletter is not the place to express one's political
or whatever views. It's our alumni's vehicle to share information and
let each other know what's been happening to our alma mater, among us,
and in our lifes.

Regarding the piece of information on Harry Wu in this recent issue of
newsletter, I am responsible for it. I was the one who forwarded the
mail to Wang Xin, well, via another alumnus because I didn't have Wang
Xin's email address at hand at that time. My view on Harry Wu is
irrelavent here. I think Harry Wu's visit to NU is news, which appeared
on NU's and various local newspapers. And the fact that one of our
own was in the news made it worthwhile to share with others. My own
intention was to edit the mail into a piece of information similar to the
other two pieces in the newsletter. Apparently, there was a
miscommunication between people.

On behalf of the leadership of the local alumni association, I send this
letter to clarify the issue and restate the purpose of our monthly
newsletter. I apologize for the misunderstanding created. And in the
future, we will be more careful in the editing work. We will always
be grateful for hearing comments and news from everyone. Let's try to make
the newsletter a success together.

Finaly, let's thank Wang Xin for dedicating his time/energy to prepare
the newsletters.

Regards,
