You can get the passport renewed by sending your passport, an application
letter, $15 (0r $35 for rush service) to the Chinese Consulate in chicago.
You also need to enclose a return evelop and prepay $1.80 postage (current
as of May 1995). It's handled by the visa office of the consulate so dont
mess it by sending it to the mainoffice, they are different. Driving to
Chicago and have it done in person is prob. the best choice.

You need an authorization letter stamped by the consulate and ask your
parents in China to do it there. Current charge can be as high as Y1000
per copy.

Good luck.
