Subject: E-Mail Directory Service Now Available

Campus users of Eudora Pro (or other POP-based e-mail clients) now have the ability to look up email addresses of members of the Caltech community directly from their e-mail program.

To use this service you must first configure Eudora Pro to use the institutional directory server (known as "ph-server.caltech.edu"):

• from within Eudora Pro's "special" menu select "settings"
• click on the "hosts" icon and configure your "ph server" to ph-server.caltech.edu

Once configured you can begin looking up email addresses:

• in Eudora Pro, use the "special" menu and select "directory services"
• enter your search string (can be first name, last name, or any part of a name) in the box, and then click on the "Ph" button
you will get a list of "hits", click on the name you want, and then click to To: button on the bottom of the screen; your email will get addressed automatically

The data in this database comes directly from the official Caltech Personnel Directory. If your personal information is outdated or incomplete you will need to fill out a "P-53" form and give it to your departmental administrator. In order for your email address to be listed, you have to enter that information on the P-53 form.
