I am a transplanted Californian by way of Alaska, Oregon (Reed College) and Pennsylvania. I received my Ph.D in Molecular Biology (X-ray Crystallography) from UCLA in 1993, and I'm a former postdoc in Pamela Bjorkman's protein crystallography lab at the California Institute of Technology.
