³É ½Ý CHENG, Jie

¡¡

Jie Cheng will begin his fourth year as a grad student at Caltech this fall. He is working in Prof. Michael Hoffmann's research group on heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry and sonochemistry. Prior to Caltech, Jie received a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University. He enjoys classical music, photography, and outdoor activities. Having benefited much from Caltech C, a great resource for the Chinese community on campus, he now feels obliged to contribute his share to its operation and development.

·½È𻪠FANG, Ruihua

¡¡

I am a senior bioinformatician at the Proteome Exploration Laboratory, Beckman Institute.   I moved here in the beginning of April from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at Seattle where I was a staff scientist.  Previously I have lived in Richland in East Washington, Boston, Salt Lake City, Logan.  One of my favorite pastimes is outdoor activity such as hiking, biking, skiing, play tennis.   I am interested in organizing or working with others to organize some outdoor activities such as hiking, beach camping, and maybe some serious long distance trips such back pack trip or biking trip.   Tennis is also my big favor.  I think it would be fun to organize tennis club/tournament (two levels and each with round robin where each player has the opportunity to play with every other player).

I have done some serious hikes in the past and which I sometimes like to brag about.  Such as hiking Grand Canyon in two days from South to North Rim (9 hrs) and then the second day come back from North to South Rim (10 hrs), and hiking Mt. Adams (12276 feet, Washington State) in 14 hrs in one day.

ÁõÒÙÖÞ LIU, Yizhou

¡¡

I'm Yizhou Liu, a graduate student in Electrical Engineering. I¡¯m an optimistic person filled with fortitude and passion. Hanging out with my friends and sports especially badminton are always my favorites. Without Caltech C and friends I met in C¡¯s events I couldn¡¯t have enjoyed every day in Caltech so much. And I believe I'll enjoy even more by serving back as a Committee member of C in my last year at Caltech.

ÁõÁ¢¾ü LIU, Lijun

¡¡

I am a second year graduate in GPS, majoring in geophysics. Having benefited from CaltechC for almost 2 years, I find this is the right time for me to feed back and serve our Chinese community; there's nothing special but to carry on our excellent tradition.

Hope to meet people and make more friends!

ɳ çò SHA, Yao

¡¡

My name is Yao Sha, currently a second year graduate student in Chemistry.
I still remember how much help previous CaltechC gave me when I first came here two years ago. First year would be much harder without the Chinese community here. Now I think it's my turn to do something for other newcomers. This is simply the reason why I would like to be a committee member.

ÓÚ·Çá½ YU, Brian

¡¡

My name is Brian Yu; I'm an undergraduate student in the Mechanical Engineering division at Caltech, class of 2010. I grew up in Beijing, China, and spent the last 6 years in Edmonton, Canada. During my first year at Caltech, I've met many people through Caltech C, especially after participating in the 2007 Chinese New Year celebration. I would love to be a part of the Caltech C committee next fall and to help organize more fun and exciting cultural events.
