The Career Development Center is very concerned about the quality of our campus recruiting program, so we ask both recruiters and students to fill out evaluation forms.
On their evaluation form, recruiters are asked to give feedback on every student they interview. After you have interviewed with at least three companies, you may make an appointment with a CDC counselor to go over your comments. Often recruiters give helpful comments that will enable you to polish up your interviewing skills or point out your strong or weak points.
We also ask students to evaluate the recruiter on his/her interviewing abilities (either good or bad). If there is a recruiter who evokes a strong negative reaction from our students, we can contact the company in order to improve the situation in the future. Conversely, if a recruiter is especially helpful and informed, we want to be able to thank her/him.
Ask each recruiter for their business card (or check with the CDC). After the interview, write a thank-you letter. It's a small gesture that goes a long way. You can use the thank-you letter to clarify points that didn't get explained in your interview or to ask questions you didn’t get to ask. A thank-you will make you stand out as a candidate and will help the recruiter to remember you, as well as foster a general feeling of goodwill.
