CALTECH CADENCE USER'S GROUP
Slide the cursor over the
toolbar on the lefthand edge of the window. This will highlight each of
the tools functions. These functions and more are also available from the
pull down menus at the top of the window. In the pulldown menu you will
notice small letters to the right of a command these are macro keys and
can be typed in place of clicking tool icons or picking from the menus
!
Start to enter your
schematic. Go to Components
(in the tool bar on the left). This
opens the component entry form. For now select the radio button Browse.
This opens the library browser where all the available components
can be viewed from a list. There are three columns here. The components
needed for this tutorial can be found under analogLib
library. Clicking on this library brings up all of its components
in the cell column of the browser. These items names should be familiar
to users of spice. Scroll down the cell column and click on nmos
. Under the view column choose cdsSpice. An nmos transistor will
attach itself to the cursor. Slide the cursor onto the workspace and click
and place this component.
Back in the component
browser, pick and place pmos, vdc, vpulse and gnd onto the worspace. Use
the tools Stretch and
Copy to arrange
the components into the inverter schematic. Use the esc
key to exit from any given task. There is a help line at the bottom of
the edit window which indicates the command being performed and the action
expected from the user. The tool Undo may
be useful.
