Welcome to Amnesty International Group 96
in Santa Monica, California

The group has an Action File from Burma (Win Naing) a student who was arrested on December 1991 after a peaceful demonstration. He has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. at present our group is also involved in UDHR 50 anniversary. We also write on various Urgent Actions. In the past we have worked on various campaign including Turkey and China campaigns.

New members are always welcome!
The group meets twice a month, first and third Wed. of each month. The first Wed. is in one of the members' homes, and the third Wed. is in Santa Monica (Main) Public Library, 1343 Sixth St., Santa Monica, at 7:30 PM.

Group 96 is one of many local affiliates of Amnesty International USA, which in turn is the United States national section of the worldwide Amnesty International movement. Founded in 1961, AI works impartially for the release of all prisoners of conscience, fair and prompt trials for political prisoners, and an end to torture and executions (for further information, see the brief history and description and the text of the Statute of AI).
