SWE Excom Meeting Minutes – November 28, 2007

 

A. End-of-Term Social (w/ Women’s Center) – next Thursday (December 6, 2007)

            1. Is this date okay? – Yes

            2. Nighttime event (~8pm?) – Yes, post-interhouse athletics & post-dinner

            3. Ice cream social? – Yes, need ice cream, toppings, hot chocolate, etc.

4. Logistics – Email Felicia about date & food, dinner announcements, House mailing lists, facebook event

B. Women’s Center

            1. Has potential to subsidize us for our events

            2. Felicia will be hiring Assistant Director who will be directly helping w/ events

3. Thursday lunch series w/ 1st year women – Can put together brief presentation to endorse SWE before IGED to get volunteers

C. Register National Members

1. Need at least 10 women engineer members registered – Figure out how to get grad students into Caltech section

            2. Reimbursement by Women’s Center for 10 members

D. Frosh Mentoring

            1. All mentors should meet with mentees before end of term

E. Next Term Events (Jessica: update website w/ old & new events)

            1. Continue Mentoring Program – Contact/meet with mentee for 2nd term

            2. Mentoring Dinner – early January or February? – Friday, January 18, 2008

                        a. Where? Logistics? (Need someone to look into this) – Adrianne will

                        b. Felicia offers to help subsidize and transport students to the dinner

            3. Regional SWE Conference – January 25-27, 2008

a. Alumni Association contact Karen suggested some sort of joint alum event along with the conference – Suki will look into this, if not for conference, for women alumni networking event 3rd term

            4. Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day – February 21, 2008

                        a. Will contact middle schools soon

                        b. Intense planning starts at the beginning of 2nd term

c. Need lots of volunteers – IGED planning meetings will be open to anyone who wants to volunteer; excom-only meetings will be a tacked on before or after the IGED planning meetings

            5. T-shirts!

                        a. Need someone to be in charge of this – Adrianne

                        - Need cute design, reasonable color, well-fit shirts
