SWE Excom Meeting – October 10, 2007

A. 1^st General Meeting – Changed to Monday, October 15, 2007 @ noon

1. Logistics

a. Where- Olive Walk, RF courtyard, ask Women Center to set up a couple of long tables for food, Adriane will take care of it

b. Food- Pizza and Soda, for about 40 people-Kara

c. Meeting- Instead of having just Tami talk, have each excomm member hold up one “activity” and if the people are interested they can go listen to her

2. Events

a. Ideas for t-shirts- possible a t-shirt designing contest, also get more comfortable sizes(girl?) because the old shirts are awkward

b. IGED volunteers- bring it up at the first meeting, get them to sign up

c. Nat’l SWE memberships

d. Nat’l SWE conference – just email out the SWE national conference date and ask if anyone wants to go

e. Regional SWE conference – January 2008 in pasadena

f. Frosh Mentoring

-Kickoff lunchtime meeting – week of October 22^nd

^{- 22 Mentors, 37 Girls, we need math, physics, ACM, chE girls, geophysics, some EAS majors, try to find them ASAP (hopefully by Monday)}

^{-concern about the date because not everyone can meet- have an icecream social or dinner instead? Another idea would be just pair them up and have an event like “Go to dinner with your Mentor” so a handful of them can go}

g. Geek2Chic – Wednesday, November 14, 2007- in Dabney Hall, dressing up women/men for interview and discuss fashion

h. Robotics outreach program- the program need girls to come and talk about basics of robotics and engineering. Just sent an email when time comes close to recruit volunteering

B. IGED – week of February 18^th

1. Girl Scouts- they want to come to IGED, find out age/size of their troop. Natalie will take care of it

D. Other activities

1. Possible tour of St. Jude’s- possible a 3^rd term event

2. End of term social (possibly joint w/ Women’s Center)- a week after thanksgiving break on a Friday
