Astrophysics

Most of the research done by members of the IRA is performed at the Hale 200-inch Telescope at Palomar Observatory near San Diego, California and the two 10-m Keck Telescopes atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii. We work in the "near infrared" range of the electromagnetic spectrum between wavelengths of 1 and 10 microns.

Softball

Our softball team is a traditionally, shall we say, relaxed, summer pastime of the infrared/sub-millimeter groups. It's captain in recent years has been Alycia Weinberger. This team is traditionally a participant in the D-League anti-playoffs, which is saying something.
